The heavy fabrication contractor invests $8 million in a new 94,000 sq ft steel fabrication facility that will create 50 new jobs with plans for further expansion.

Contract Fabricators, Inc. (Iuka, MS) recently cut the ribbon on its newest steel fabrication facility in a 94,000 sq ft building at the intersection of the Tennessee River and the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. A new million dollar barge facility is being built to serve the company.

“I am excited to welcome this expansion in Mississippi. The investment and jobs being created by Contract Fabricators is further proof that ‘Mississippi Works’ and the company’s decision to locate here will positively impact the community and the state as a whole,” said Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant. “I thank the company for its investment in our state, its confidence in our business climate and for creating these new job opportunities for the area’s workers.”

Boyce Delashmit, the president of Contract Fabricators, reported that “we are making a significant investment here because we needed access to the nation’s water transportation system in order to better serve our customers.”

“Our customers are demanding larger and heavier fabrications which require shipping by water,” stressed Mike Clarkson, the vice president of the company. “The cost savings are substantial and we pass those savings along to our customers. We searched in several states for a waterfront location and were most impressed with the teamwork in Mississippi and Tishomingo County. We appreciate the fine partnership we enjoy with the state and county and look forward to growing our business here.”

The new plant represents an initial company investment of $8 million and will create 50 new jobs, with plans for expansion.

Contract Fabricators manufactures pressure vessels, columns, cyclones, heat exchangers, evaporators, storage tanks, structural steel, high pressure piping, refractory linings, large mechanical equipment, separators, gasifers, mega pumps, risers, towers, and other custom steel construction.

The company serves the petroleum, chemical, power, food, feed, and other industries requiring specialized steel fabrications with engineering services such as basic mechanical design, code calculations, finite element analysis, and full engineering drawings and solid modeling. CFI provides all engineering, fabrication, and refractory lining in-house. www.contractfab.com
