The NSL series of the VERO-S system from Schunk, Inc. (Morrisville, NC)  consists of a standardized base unit.  Each NSL consists of 2, 4, 6, or 8 NSE 138 modules that range from 199 mm x 399 mm up to 399 mm x 799 mm.  The units are mounted on a 200 mm center distance.

The NSL series is designed for shops to quickly and easily implement a quick change pallet system with a universal standard for all machines regardless of their machine variety or table size. The NSL units can be combined to create an even larger base plate.

All functional components of the VERO-S module are made of hardened Stainless Steel. Among the many benefits, the pull-in force of the module is up to 9,000 lb. With the VERO-S, machine set-up times can be reduced by up to 90 percent.

The VERO-S system ensures maximum flexibility and a repeat accuracy of less than 0.005 mm. Users benefit from more than 500 workpiece clamping versions which can be combined with SCHUNK’s extensive range of stationary clamping vises.

Due to the patented dual clamping stroke and the integrated turbo function, the retention force can be increased to 9,000 lb per module. The rigidity of the clamping system benefits from this higher force. As a result, considerably higher cutting forces are possible with the VERO-S. Even extremely high shear forces can be absorbed reliably.

Locking of the new quick-change pallet system is done mechanically via a large spring package. It is self-locking and clamps with a form-fit. Holding forces of up to 16,800 lb are achieved. For opening the module, a pneumatic pressure of 6 bar (85 psi) is sufficient.

VERO-S clamps workpieces, pallets, clamping stations, existing fixtures, and tombstones with one or more clamping pins. The radial aligned clamping slides of the quick-change pallet system pulls in the clamping pin and locks it.

Exact positioning is accomplished via a short taper. Radial location is done via a diamond pin. This assures a repeat accuracy of at least 5 microns (0.0002 in). Workpieces can be transferred from machine to machine or to a CMM accurately and seamlessly on the fly. The maintenance-free module is completely sealed and protected against the penetration of chips, dust, and coolant.

The company is offering special savings up to $5400 on NSL modules through February 15, 2014.

The new SINO-R from Schunk is a maintenance free toolholder especially well suited for rough milling. The toolholder is based on an expansion technology system with a solid body and a pressure medium, quickly clamping the cutting tool by using a simple spanner wrench. This simple operation saves unproductive machine down-time.

The excellent interaction of high radial rigidity and sperior dampening characteristics are special features that increase the productivity of the toolholder. The result is an increased tool life and material removal rates. An additional advantage for the user: the toolholder is flexible due to the use of intermediate sleeves.

Nearly all common tool shank diameters can be clamped. SINO-R holds your tool securely, with a maximum torque transmission (850 Nm (627 Ft-lb)), at a clamping diameter of 32 mm (1.25 in). It is precision-balanced standard to G 6.3 at 15,000 rpm.
