CC-Link Partner Association Launches Gateway to Asia Program
The G2A service helps American device manufacturers increase sales in the fast growing Asian market by providing conformance testing, engineering and software integration support, pro-active assistance with local Asian marketing activities and an extensive technical support network.
The CC-Link Partner Association (CLPA; Vernon Hills, IL) has put together the comprehensive Gateway to Asia (G2A) program of engineering and marketing services to help American device manufacturers develop CC-Link compatible products that will help increase sales in the fast growing Asian market. CC-Link is a leading open automation network technology in Asia and an essential door opener for any manufacturer looking to sell into the Asian market.
The G2A service goes beyond assistance by providing regular CLPA members with conformance testing and other engineering and software integration support. It provides pro-active assistance with local Asian marketing activities and an extensive technical support network. To become a Regular CLPA member and receive these benefits, a manufacturer joins the CLPA and maintains its membership in the organization, including payment of annual dues.
The CC-Link brand is heavily promoted and recognized in major manufacturing environments in Asia. With native language capability, numerous local offices, and staff providing timely technical support, the CC-Link team helps manufacturers navigate the Asian marketplace. The G2A program benefits package includes both development and marketing support.
Development support includes assistance from CLPA’s local technical staff and a comprehensive package that can help regular CLPA members with their efforts to develop and test CC-Link compatible products. Regular members can achieve fast implementation without protocol knowledge. They simply determine the type of product to be developed based on the functionality required and the amount of data to be handled.
While Regular CLPA membership is required to develop CC-Link compatible products, companies who elect free registered membership status still receive all CC-Link specifications (protocol, implementation, etc.). G2A regular members also have access to substantial marketing resources. A typical program of activity may include advertising in leading industry journals, promoting members’ CC-Link compatible products direct via online channels, coverage in newsletters, road shows, webinars and more.
These benefits are already part of CLPA’s regional marketing activities. By joining the G2A program, American manufacturers can leverage the CLPA’s extensive Asian marketing capabilities and activities, potentially increasing the company’s success in that market.
“There is no denying that Asia is the key market globally for automation,” said Robert Miller, the directior of CC-Link Partner Association — Americas. “Recent research by IHS, a provider of global market and economic information, indicates that about half of all automation spending globally is taking place in Asia. Combine this with further research from IHS that shows CC-Link has a leading market position in Asia, and there is a strong case to be made for using CC-Link to maximize the success of an Asian automation system business.
“Asia’s strength in the global automation markets is impacted by two factors – Asia supplies manufactured goods to the rest of the world and domestic demand is rising,” added Miller. “Countries such as China are well known for their extensive manufacturing sector, and much of this output goes to supply demand in overseas markets such as Europe and the Americas. As this manufacturing base has developed, this has also raised the standard of living locally, creating additional opportunities driven by rising domestic demand.”
