Management Updates at Eriez

Ray Spurgeon has taken on the role as the product manager of metal detection to replace John Klinge, who has was promoted to market manager of the sanitary business.

Ray Spurgeon assisted with the successful 2013 release of the Xtreme® Metal Detector and was responsible for the development of new OEMs and major accounts for that line. Now he takes on the challenge as product manager-metal detection.  
In his new position as market manager-sanitary, John Klinge will lead the Sanitary Team and take on primary responsibility for developing and implementing selling strategies to expand the sales of all Eriez products.

Jeff Kaveney, the manager-product marketing and administration for Eriez® (Erie, PA), announced that Ray Spurgeon has assumed the role of product manager-metal detection. Spurgeon will now oversee and handle metal detection inquiries, OEM and major account growth, orders, product development and improvements, marketing, training and sales forecasts as well as other functions.

Since joining Eriez in 1995, Spurgeon has served in various capacities within the company. Prior to becoming product manager-inspection systems, he was assistant product manager-metal detection. In his most recent role as accounts manager-inspection systems, he assisted with the successful 2013 release of Eriez’ new Xtreme® Metal Detector and was responsible for the development of new OEMs and major accounts for this line. Spurgeon lives in Erie, PA.

“Ray’s breadth of experience, extensive product knowledge and training acumen will be invaluable as he takes on this new challenge of leading of the fast-growing metal detector product group,” says Kaveney. “With Ray’s proven track record of success and his immense talent and energy, we are confident he will flourish in his new position.”

In related news, Charlie Ingram, the Eriez® vice president of sales and marketing, has also announced the promotion of John Klinge to market manager-sanitary. In this new position, Klinge will lead the Eriez Sanitary Team and take on primary responsibility for developing and implementing selling strategies to expand the sales of all Eriez products into the pharmaceutical, chemical, plastics, food and packaging markets.

“Since joining Eriez in 2008 as a technical representative, John has excelled at developing Eriez business. In his most recent role as product manager-metal detection, he spearheaded the successful 2013 release of our new Xtreme® Metal Detector,” says Ingram. “Thanks in large part to John’s efforts, sales of the Xtreme Metal Detector have exceeded forecast and prompted our decision to double the metal detector manufacturing space at our Erie Headquarters plant this summer.”

Prior to joining Eriez, Klinge served as a captain in the U.S. Army. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and business, and military science from the University of Pittsburgh. He went on to recently earn a master’s degree in business administration from Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. Klinge, his wife and two daughters live in Erie.
