AMT Restructures International Operations

Xingbin Li now directs the Asia/Pacific Region, and Carlos Mortera directs the Latin America Region.

Xingbin Li’s oversight of the Asia/Pacific region includes AMT’s two Technical Centers in Shanghai, China, and Chennai, India. He will also be responsible for engaging AMT members in the U.S. and guiding them through the process of evaluating and planning how to market their respective products within the Asia region, as well as facilitating market entry and participation through a variety of channels.

Carlos Mortera’s oversight of the Latin America region includes AMT’s two Technical Centers in Monterrey, Mexico, and Sorocaba, Brazil. He will continue to facilitate AMT member participation throughout the region, increase focus on the Brazilian market, as well as oversee the development of a new AMT members’ demonstration area at FACENS, an engineering university, also located in Sorocaba.

AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology (McLean, VA) has announced a new organizational structure for its international operations.

Xingbin Li, previously the AMT general manager, China, has been appointed the international director of the Asia/Pacific Region. His oversight of the Asia/Pacific region includes two AMT Technical Centers in Shanghai, China, and Chennai, India. He will also be responsible for engaging AMT members in the U.S. and guiding them through the process of evaluating and planning how to market their respective products within the Asia region, as well as facilitating market entry and participation through a variety of channels.

Li has been with AMT for over 20 years after a stint with China National Machine Tool Corp. He graduated from The Beijing University and holds a master’s degree from The University of Buffalo.

Carlos Mortera, previously the AMT general manager, Mexico, has been appointed as the international director of the Latin America Region. His oversight of the Latin America region includes two AMT Technical Centers in Monterrey, Mexico, and Sorocaba, Brazil. He will continue to facilitate AMT member participation throughout the region, increase focus on the Brazilian market, as well as oversee the development of a new members’ demonstration area at FACENS, an engineering university that is also located in Sorocaba.

Mortera has been with AMT for over 12 years and has spent his entire professional career in the manufacturing sector, with experience in both Mexico and Brazil. He graduated from the TEC de Monterrey (AMT’s partnering organization in Mexico).

Both Mortera and Li will report to Steve Lesnewich, the vice president at the global services of AMT. With the pending retirements in early February of global services directors Knox Johnstone and Mario Winterstein, both based in McLean, this new internationally-based team will assume responsibility for marketing, members’ business facilitation and operations on February 1, 2015.
