Building on a winning tradition that spans over 20 years, Mazak Corporation (Florence, KY) is pleased to announce its continued partnership with Penske Racing for all cars competing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup® and Verizon IndyCar® Series, as well as one car in the NASCAR Xfinity® series. Mazak and Penske Racing have been partners since 1994, when Mazak became one of the first sponsors of Penske Racing South, Roger Penske’s original NASCAR racing organization.

Over the past two decades, Penske Racing has engineered an edge over the competition by keeping more parts manufacturing in-house on equipment supplied by Mazak. Inside Penske Racing’s state-of-the-art facility on 105 acres in Mooresville, NC, the NASCAR and IndyCar groups manufacture everything from chassis to key suspension parts.

“We don’t just partner with any organization. They must be industry leaders that can get the job done and work with us in a win-win situation,” said Matt Gimbel, the production manager at Penske Racing. “The technology of our cars and components continue to progress in precision and complexity, which, in turn, makes them tougher to manufacture. To stay ahead, we rely on Mazak machines with multi-tasking, 5-axis and Done In One® capabilities as well as large tool storage capacities, pallet changers and easy programming for even our most complex of parts.”

In addition to advanced machine tool technology, Penske Racing relies on Mazak for training and application support. Between the team’s Mooresville and Concord locations, Penske Racing machine shops use nine Mazaks, including Vertical Traveling Column, Vertical Center Nexus, Quick Turn Smart and Quick Turn Nexus models.

“All of us at here are proud to be a part of the most storied racing tradition in history,” said Brian Papke, the president of Mazak. “We and Penske Racing share an unwavering commitment to innovation and continuous improvement that drives everything we do. We look forward to a great season in 2015, and many more years of success together.”

The Mazak logo appears on the B posts of the #2 Brad Keselowski and #22 Joey Logano NASCAR Sprint Cup cars, as well as the B post of the #22 car driven by various drivers throughout the NASCAR Xfinity season. The logo also appears on the mirrors of the #2 Juan Pablo Montoya, #3 Helio Castroneves, #1 Will Power and #22 Simon Pagenaud Verizon IndyCar Series cars.
