Able to inspect like-for-like parts in approximately half the time, the RS3 Integrated Scanner from Hexagon is ideal for point cloud inspection, product benchmarking, 3D digitizing, virtual assembly, reverse engineering, rapid prototyping or CNC milling needs in the automotive, aerospace, medical, rail, and energy production industries.
The TIGO SF shop floor CMM from Hexagon efficiently measures small to medium sized parts in a harsh workshop environment and easily integrates into fully automated in-line or near-the-line inspection cells, or as part of a complete production/inspection setup.

With the increasing demand to measure faster, shops can double the scanning speed and throughput with the RS3 Integrated Scanner from Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence (North Kingstown, RI). This scanner enhances the measurement experience without compromising accuracy. More than nine times the acquisition speed of previous versions, it enables shops to inspect like-for-like parts in approximately half the time. Additional improvements include point cloud density increase, giving faster and more detailed scanning as well as improved quality and productivity for crucial applications, such as point cloud inspection, product benchmarking, 3D digitizing, virtual assembly, reverse engineering, rapid prototyping or CNC milling. It even includes ergonomic features, such as infinite rotation axes and instant acoustic and haptic feedback to the user.

Shops can use the RS3 immediately since it requires no warm-up time and no referencing. Existing customers can even upgrade their system without returning the product to the factory to ensure instant usability. For new customers, this is also available for all new ROMER Absolute Arm SI portable measurement systems. The new RS3 laser line scanner now provides up to 460,000 points/sec. It is factory calibrated and certified to B89.4.22 as a complete unit with the ROMER 7-axis arm. The RS3 requires software RDS 4.0 or higher to operate, which features SMART technology that allows real-time monitoring of the arm and will reduce the mean time to repair. Your tactile measurements and 3D scan data can now be made seamlessly in the same software session.

The RS3 also has the FP3 wireless feature pack and hot swappable batteries, so you can scan wirelessly at the same rate. Use the RS3 Integrated Scanner for all inspection and reverse engineering needs in the automotive, aerospace, medical, rail, and energy production industries.

In other equipment applications, Hexagon offers its TIGO SF shop floor CMM with applications that enable easy integration into fully automated in-line or near-the-line inspection cells, or as part of a complete production/inspection setup. With a 500 mm x 580 mm x 500 mm measurement volume and shop-floor specific features, the TIGO SF is designed to efficiently measure small to medium sized parts in a harsh workshop environment. The machine’s structure is open on three sides for maximum accessibility, making it ideal for use with robotic part-handling systems or automatic workpiece recognition systems. A new optional I/O Kit enables the CMM to interface directly with automated lines and exchange data with PLC (programmable logic controllers). Measurement data can be used to inform process improvements as part of a wider product lifecycle management (PLM) system.

The air-free TIGO SF has a robust design and is protected from contaminants by covers and bellows. The CMM also features advanced thermal compensation and passive damping systems as standard. Active damping can be added to enable installation near machining centers or part-transit areas. An IP54-protected machine stand is also available to protect the PC and other electronic components, so the CMM can be positioned directly within the production process to reduce measurement times and maximize throughput. For plants using a fully-automated setup, the TIGO SF can be delivered with messaging lights allowing users to monitor changes in the CMM status from a distance.

“The TIGO SF is a proven system for workshop conditions and provides the perfect base for an automated solution,” said Anna Maria Izzi, Bridge CMM Product Manager at Hexagon Metrology. “With these options, we wanted to make it easier to design systems around the CMM. We firmly believe that measurement should support production, and automated systems gathering and delivering data quickly are ideal for increasing efficiency, improving quality and driving productivity.” The TIGO SF can be ordered worldwide with these integration-ready options preinstalled. Some retrofit options are also offered to bring existing machines up to the automation-optimized standards.
