Ed Carpenter Racing (ECR; Speedway, IN) has announced a partnership with Surfcam by Vero Software Ltd. (Gloucestershire, UK) and distributor Online Resources, Inc. (Lebanon, IN). ECR engineers and machinists will work exclusively with this new software to increase efficiency and productivity in their in-house machine shop by utilizing Surfcam’s 5-axis advanced production capabilities to bridge the gap between the solid 3D models they produce and the milling machines and lathes they use from Hurco Companies, Inc. (Indianapolis, IN) to machine component parts for their racing vehicles. In addition to generating accurate G-code, Surfcam graphically simulates the toolpath and executes full collision checking in one machining environment.

“I am really excited to start this new venture with Surfcam and Online Resources,” said Tim Broyles, the general manager of ECR. “We are always looking for ways to become more efficient, both on-track and in the race shop, and this software will help propel us in the right direction.” Online Resources will partner with ECR through implementation, training and support.

The No. 20 Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka Chevrolet, driven by team owner Ed Carpenter, will be on display at Online Resources’ Booth 5467 during the 2016 Performance Racing Industry (PRI) trade show that is being held in Indianapolis December 8-10.

ECR first entered the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2012 and their team is led by IndyCar’s only owner/driver. Carpenter is the winner of back-to-back pole positions for the Indianapolis 500 in 2013 and 2014. ECR has amassed seven victories and over 20 top five finishes in the past five years. In 2017, Carpenter will compete in all oval events in the No. 20 Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka Chevrolet, while J.R. Hildebrand will race their No. 21 Chevrolet throughout the entire season.
