WELDING TIPS
Because many rolls are subjected to thermal shock and highly abrasive environments, roll wear can be exceedingly rapid and in their original state, their effective life can be quite short. Rather than allowing wear and tear to turn these high value components into scrap, many profitable businesses choose to rebuild these rolls prior to the end of their useful life.(click on photo to enlarge)

TIPS FOR OVERLAYING JOURNALS AND CASTER ROLLS

Although the ultimate hardfacing deposit selected will vary based on the intended application, Regis Geisler of Lincoln Electric explains the welding and fabrication techniques to follow for rebuilding caster rolls, crankshafts, roll pins, extrusion rolls, crusher rolls, or other types of journals made of low alloy steel.

THE SAFE SIDE
If a function is to survive it needs to contribute more value to the organization than the resources it consumes. Nowhere is this likely to be more of a shift in thinking than in the discipline of safety. (Photo courtesy of Stonehouse Logic Limited, Lancashire, UK)(click on photo to enlarge)

THE FUTURE OF SAFETY

Safety at a Crossroads: To some, the future of safety holds great promise, with jobs being created faster than colleges can graduate qualified professionals. But others see storm clouds on the horizon. Phil La Duke of Rockford Greene International takes an insightful look into both sides and exposes some trends in safety that you are definitely not aware of.

THE CUTTING EDGE
Newly designed beam guidance enables combination punch-laser machines to process sheet metal in a variety of thicknesses using the same cutting head. Head changing is no longer necessary. The automatic nozzle changer also takes care of exchanging the nozzle. Nonproductive auxiliary processing times can be reduced and every varying type and thickness of material can be cut in any sequence – without operator intervention.(Click on photo to enlarge it)

PROFIT MASTERY
Many business owners once attempted to resolve cash flow challenges by increasing sales through higher levels of capital inefficiency. This often led to heavier borrowing to fund the assets that were required to support robust sales growth, and it consumed cash faster than profits could supply it.(click on photo to enlarge it)

THE FISCAL PHYSICAL
