FABTECH 2017: Forming & Fabricating

The 2017 edition of FABTECH is on track to be one of the largest metal fabrication events ever at McCormick Place in Chicago, and our special coverage provides technical reviews of some of the metal forming and fabricating machinery, tooling, systems and accessories that will be exhibited to help you navigate the show floor and manage your time while you’re there.

Booth A4287: Ideal for demanding applications such as leveling perforated sheet metal, Schnutz high-end precision levelers from Burghardt + Schmidt use special simulation software and exchangeable roll cassettes for quick and easy changeovers that produce perfect, dead-flat sheet metal flatness and optimal reduction of residual stresses.
Booth A4287: The EP300 – Inline burr height measuring system from Burghardt + Schmidt can measure the strips of a coil from the top, bottom or from both sides during the running of the line with an accuracy of 1 µm. The system checks all strips of a coil – even from the middle – to ensure consistently perfect cutting quality thanks to early detection of wear on the blades. (first view)

FABTECH 2017 is North America’s largest collaboration of technology, equipment and knowledge in the metal forming, fabricating, welding and finishing industry. The event takes place November 6-9 and will occupy over 750,000 sq ft in the McCormick Center in Chicago, where more than 1,700 exhibitors and 50,000 attendees will have full access to special events, presentations, educational sessions and live demonstrations of the latest technology and integrated solutions, along with one-on-one exchanges with exhibitors and networking with industry leaders. There will also be opportunities to attend keynote presentations, a state of the industry outlook, discussions on key industry issues that influence manufacturing, and more. You don’t want to miss this:

Advanced Coil Processing Systems
Schnutz high-end precision levelers from Burghardt + Schmidt use special simulation software and exchangeable roll cassettes for quick and easy changeovers that produce perfect, dead-flat sheet metal flatness and optimal reduction of residual stresses.

Uniform Two-Sided Deburring, Buffing and Polishing of Parts
The TB 1600 64 in top / bottom machine from Apex Machine Group processes both the top and bottom surfaces of each part in a single pass with 100 percent uniformity.

Cost Effective Vacuum Lifts for Loading Machine Tools
The Forklift Vaclift FVL1000HPT vacuum system from Blue Water Engineering is ideal for loading aluminum, steel, brass, copper and other materials into abrasive waterjets, laser cutting systems, plasma cutting systems, router cutters, and other CNC machine tools.

Heavy Duty Drawer Slides
Available for loads up to 2,500 lb, heavy duty telescopic slides from Chambrelan have closed lengths up to 78 in long with extensions reaching up to 10 ft that consist of rails equipped with ball bearing cages and end stops made of ROHS-compliant zinc plated extruded steel or stainless steel.

Weld Dissimilar Materials and Eliminate Post-Weld Inspection Processing
The automated SpinMeld friction spin welding system from Coldwater Machine is a very fast solid-state joining technology for steels, aluminum, cast or sintered metals, carbide materials, magnesium, nickel, molybdenum, and other exotic materials that normally may not be welded using other methods.

Fully Automated Sawing of Complex Angles on Structural Material
The fully automatic AV-2026NC bandsaw from Cosen Saws cuts complex angles on structural material either on the front end, the back end or both. It is capable of making a bull nose angle cut, which manufacturers often use to make bracing parts, as well as making opposing angles, parallelograms, polygons, and straight cuts.

Coil Fed Laser Cutting with Unmatched Flexibility
The LINACUT coil fed laser cutting system from Dimeco Coil Technologies combines the flexibility of laser cutting and turret punching together with the performance of coil fed processes with a fully automatic part sorting system for non-stop processing of coils.

Pipe Beveling Machine Creates J-Preparation for Orbital Welding
Suited for heavy wall pipe from 1.575 in ID to 8.625 in OD, the Prepzilla MILLHOG ID Clamping End Prep Tool from ESCO Tool features dual-opposed tapered roller bearings, direct-drive gears, a rigid blade lock system, and TiN coated T-15 tool steel cutter blades with a proprietary chip breaker that transfers heat away from the pipe surface.

Factory Automation and Tool and Die Systems
DT Engineering builds factory automation systems, tool and die systems, and designs and produces stamping dies, including Class A/B dies, draw dies, single hit dies, trim dies, transfer dies, form dies, progressive dies and cam dies.

Rotary Solid Bar Bender for Complete Complex Bending
The FRH-850 hydraulic rotary solid bar bender from Fascut can complete complex bending of everything from ¼ in to 1 in diameter solid steel bars, as well as flats up to 2 in high. An optional cutter turns the unit into a versatile bender/cutter combination machine.

Machining Center for Fabricators Boosts Profit for Any Shop
Ideal for milling, drilling, tapping, beveling, countersinking, and form drilling large 20 ft parts on a single setup, the FlexDrill CNC Machine from FlexArm uses a variety of smart fixturing to eliminate spindle downtime, remove bottlenecks, maximize productivity and boost profit for any shop.

Vertical and Horizontal Band Sawing Systems
HE&M Saw offers the VT120HA-60-TS vertical band saw with an optional 120 in servo-driven bar-feed for faster cycle times and more accurate positioning of material, and the automatic Hurricane 2030A horizontal band saw that miters to 60 deg.
