Booth N-237148: Low pressure, low temperature Flex-Hone CBN abrasive finishing from Brush Research Manufacturing reduces the work-hardened layer produced by machining without imparting thermally induced distortion. The resulting surface is less prone to oxidation and stress-induced cracking, which is ideal for difficult-to-finish materials like high nickel alloy steels, Monel, Inconel, Incoloy, Hasteloy, Invar and Rene.

In Booth N-237148, Brush Research Mfg. Co. Inc. (BRM; Los Angeles, CA) has expanded their high performance abrasive nylon disc brush line to include a selection of small diameter tools. These new brushes are available in 50 mm, 60 mm and 80 mm for both Dot and Turbine style configurations. A new specialty flow-through tool holder with a 16 mm shank is also available to accommodate these smaller diameter tools. Nampower brushes are made of a combination of ceramic and silicon carbide abrasive nylon mounted to a thermoplastic base. These smaller diameter disc brushes will offer greater versatility into harder to reach areas, smaller applications and planetary head mountings to create reliable, consistent and cost-effective results. Nampower Disc Brushes are easily integrated into automated machinery, CNC machining centers, transfer lines and robotic cells.

Also on display will be the newest abrasive choice for the Flex-Hone line: Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN) abrasive is now available for difficult-to-finish materials like high nickel alloy steels. CBN combines the highest hardness with excellent toughness to provide the optimum surface finish in materials like Monel, Inconel, Incoloy, Hasteloy, Invar and Rene. Flex-honing is a low pressure, low temperature abrasive finishing process, making it ideal for these difficult-to-finish materials. The tool reduces the work-hardened layer produced by machining operations without imparting thermally induced distortion. The resulting surface is less prone to oxidation and stress-induced cracking. Sizes from 4 mm to 20 mm are standard in three different mesh sizes. Additional diameters and mesh selections are available on special order.
