Multi-Faceted Welding Clamp Manages Distortion, Saves Time & Materials

Utilizing an integrated notching system for accurate angles, the Angle-Rite Clamping System from Meridian Stainless can join one to three intersecting tubes or pipes easily and manage any weld distortion.

Booth B-20102: The Angle-Rite Clamping System from Meridian Stainless uses a primary clamp affixed to the intersected tube or pipe and a secondary clamp that holds the intersecting tube or pipe in a precise angle to be notched or mitered using the Miter-Notcher or the abrasive notcher attachment. Once mitered or notched, the intersecting tube or pipe is rejoined with the primary tube or pipe and the angle is accurately retained for welding.

Did you know there is a welding clamp that has the ability to work with a variety of tube or pipe sizes, utilizes an integrated notching system for accurate angles, is capable of joining one to three intersecting tubes or pipes easily, and manages the weld distortion that occurs after welding tubes and/or pipes? There is, and in Booth B-20102, Meridian Stainless, Inc. (Port Townsend, WA) will demonstrate how their powerhouse Angle-Rite® Clamping System can save you time and materials while improving the quality of your tube and pipe projects. This system is made up of two components: the primary clamp that is affixed to the intersected tube or pipe, and the secondary clamp that holds the intersecting tube or pipe in a precise angle to be notched or mitered using the Miter-Notcher or the abrasive notcher attachment. Once mitered or notched, the intersecting tube or pipe is rejoined with the primary tube or pipe and the angle is accurately retained for welding.

While the clamp is holding the primary and intersecting tube or pipe in place, the welder can weld the joint(s) without the need for a third hand. The primary clamp manages the weld distortion which occurs during the welding process. When purchased on its own, you have the ability to choose between two clamp sizes: the #3 or the #4. Each clamp consists of a primary and secondary clamp, along with a die and sling set. The accompanying die/sling set for #3 is available in tube sizes .875 in, 1 in, 1.25 in and 1.5 in, and pipe sizes .75 in and 1 in. For larger tube and pipe sizes, the #4 clamp works for projects using tube sizes 1.625 in, 1.75 in and 2 in, or pipes sizes 1.25 in and 1.5 in. Other accessories include the Angle & Length Gauge that helps lock in the angles and pipe length before the notching process, and the Cluster Kit that is useful in joining up to three intersecting tubes and pipes.

“Having worked in high-end stainless steel fabrication for over 25 years, I have experienced firsthand the complications of weld distortion,” noted Tim Uecker, the president of Meridian Stainless and the inventor of the Angle-Rite Clamping System. “The time and materials lost due to defects after welding was frustrating. There was no accurate solution available, so I created one.”
