Advanced Spot Welding and Capacitive Discharge Power Supplies

The MacGregor DC2013-T resistance welding power supply from Amada Miyachi America combines touch panel-integrated database process control and monitoring with ultra-high duty output, while their compact CD-V capacitive discharge welders feature dual-pulse output.

The MacGregor DC2013-T Series resistance welding power supply from Amada Miyachi America combines touch panel integrated database process control and monitoring with ultra-high duty and low ripple 3,000 amp DC output for crimping weld connectors, making pre-compacted wire to terminal connections, projection welding dashboard switches, and resistance welding engine motor armature and stranded wire to coil or terminal welding.
For consistent welding output and repeatable process results in battery tab welding, interconnects, honeycomb tacking, fine wire to pad processes, jewelry repair and other applications, CD-V Series capacitive discharge power supplies from Amada Miyachi America feature a fully controllable dual-pulse output, full color 3.5 in user interface, built-in peak current indication for immediate weld fire confirmation, pulse shaping with adjustable upslope to reduce expulsion during welds, an ultra-fast rise time for conductive material welding, and rapid firing between pulses for quick welding of adjacent locations.

Amada Miyachi America, Inc. (Monrovia, CA) provides complete local product and sales support for the DC2013-T Series high performance resistance spot welding power supply manufactured by their sister company MacGregor™. The DC2013-T Series combines touch panel integrated database process control and monitoring with ultra-high duty and low ripple 3,000 amp DC output for applications such as crimping weld connectors, making pre-compacted wire to terminal connections, and projection welding dashboard switches. It is also a good choice for resistance welding engine motor armature and stranded wire to coil or terminal welding. Integrating state-of-the art technologies, DC2013-T units take the concept of real-time statistical process control (SPC) to unsurpassed levels, allowing welding database profiles to be stored, monitored and adjusted from anywhere in the world using TCP/IP Ethernet. The internal database technology provides process and production engineers with a vast array of process control features that enhance production line quality control and monitoring methodologies.

The DC2013-T has a number of useful features: Its power switching system provides unsurpassed levels of DC current with ultra-low ripple and fast loop response to react to and control challenging applications. High voltage outputs permit long cabling for automation and power distribution to multi-headed systems. Operators can view work instructions and process manuals with weld schedules and see image files with weld schedule for quality control and process checking. A 7 in color touchscreen panel interface offers a context sensitive, intuitive menu system. High speed automation and communication ports provide full remote control capability. Available options include models featuring optically-isolated analog electrical channel monitoring, as well as models with built-in one, three, or six channel weld displacement monitoring and dynamic weld cutoff.

Amada Miyachi America also provides CD-V Series capacitive discharge power supplies that feature a fully controllable dual-pulse output and a full color 3.5 in user interface for consistent welding output and repeatable process results in battery tab welding, interconnects, honeycomb tacking, fine wire to pad processes, jewelry repair and other applications. The CD-V series includes built-in peak current indication for immediate weld fire confirmation, pulse shaping with adjustable upslope to reduce expulsion during welds, an ultra-fast rise time for conductive material welding, and the ability to go rapid fire between pulses for quick welding of adjacent locations. In addition, the CD-V series makes handling a variety of weld schedules easy as it is able to store up to eight schedules at one time, giving the operator the ability to easily change between weld schedules. Other ease-of-use features include a weld counter, programmable squeeze time, and a push button rotary encoder for intuitive operation.

The CD-V series is built in the U.S. and works with the following AMYA weld heads:

  • Manual Cable Driven – Models TL-V80F-E2-0A, TL-V88F-E2-0A
  • Standard Air Solenoid Driven – Models TL-V80A-E2-0A, TL-V88A-E2-0A

TL-V weld heads are designed to complement these new power supplies. There are four variants, with air-actuated and manual-actuated motion. These heads are designed for robust usage and come standard with a robust stand and electrodes.
