Exact Metrology (Cincinnati, OH, and Brookfield, WI) is distributing the GOM (Brunswick, Germany) CT scanner in the U.S. GOM develops software, machines, and systems for automated 3D coordinate measuring technology, 3D computed tomography (CT) scanning, and 3D testing.
By providing a high-resolution 3D scan of internal as well as external component geometries, the GOM CT simplifies initial sampling, tool correction, and inspection. The inner workings of complex components are captured in a single scanning process so the user receives a complete image of the test specimen for form and position analysis or nominal/actual comparisons.
Applications include digitizing light metal parts.
A high-contrast X-ray detector that generates a fine pixel grid (3008 x 2512 pixels) achieves a high level of detail during digitization. Five-axis kinematics with integrated centering table facilitates positioning the component optimally in the measuring volume, so the measurement is consistently performed with the best resolution.
Within the measuring volume (diameter: 240 mm, height: 400 mm), several objects can be measured simultaneously in one scan, reducing processing times. GOM technology also enables repeatable results.
Control, data acquisition, and evaluation are combined in a single software package, which simplifies the process from recording raw data to creating the measurement report.
The CT scanner is housed at Exact Metrology’s Brookfield location, where it’s used for customer demonstrations and contract scanning. Exact Metrology is an ISO 9001:2008, AS9100, FFL and ITAR-certified company.
