The Dormer Pramet (Elgin, IL) parting-off and grooving assortment grows with the additions of an insert, two geometries, a grade, blades, and toolholder.

The 0.98-inch GL double-edged insert ranges in width from 0.08-inch to 0.236 inches. Targeting long-grooving applications, the GL supports 60% capacity over the existing LCMF16 insert.

A PVD grade, G8330, for the insert provides a versatile and stable option when machining steel, stainless steel, and cast iron.

The insert is also supported by two geometries:

PR for medium to high feeds in a variety of machining conditions. Its cutting-edge strength resists cracking when grooving interrupted cuts and is ideal for the parting-off of bars.

PM for low to medium feeds on soft materials such as austenitic stainless steel. It offers greater resistance to built-up edge and reduces the burr left when parting-off tubes.

External toolholders that provide an overhang of up to 1.26 inches are available in shank dimensions ranging from 0.63-inch to 0.98-inch. Their design supports stable cutting and resists vibration, promoting a high-quality surface finish.

Designed for small-part machining, the tools feature a 30-degree angled screw position for easier indexing and a brace to increase toughness.

Universal tool blades offering heights between 1.02 inches and 1.26 inches feature a double-sided clamping key and enable inserts to be replaced with one hand.
