Secomax CW100 inserts from Seco Tools (Troy, MI) are designed for manufacturers seeking solutions to unpredictable tool life and slow rough-machining speeds when working with heat-resistant super alloys (HRSA). An aluminium-oxide-based grade with silicon-carbide whiskers (Al2O3-SiC), the  inserts offer superior wear-, fracture- and notch-resistance as well as high hardness at elevated temperatures, making them ideal for machining Inconel 718, Hastelloy, Waspaloy, MAR, Nimonic, Rene, and Udimet for aerospace, oil-and-gas, and power-generation applications.

A grade expansion encompasses:

  • Four round insert formats with two geometries, E-01020 and T-01020
  • Four grooving insert geometries with widths of 0.125-inch (3.175 mm), 0.25-inch (6.35 mm), and 0.312-inch (7.925 mm).

Recommended cutting window: 490 to 985 surface feet per minute (sfm; 150 to 300 meters per minute) speeds and 0.002 to 0.010 in/rev (0.05-0.25 mm/rev) feeds.
