Each TAB Wrapper Tornado orbital wrapping machine manufactured by TAB Industries LLC (Reading, PA) has more than 40 laser-cut parts. They range from the machine’s signature 100-inch wrapping ring and guarding panels to a variety of latches, clips, plates, and other small components. The company is saving $250,000 annually and shipping machines two weeks sooner by producing those parts on a BesCutter (Lehigh Acres, FL) 3300 W fiber laser cutter instead of farming out the work.

In addition to cutting costs and speeding production, the machine enables the manufacturer to quickly design, test and implement product upgrades, such as reengineering a series of brackets to allow faster production. Time required for supervision and quality assurance has fallen dramatically.

The laser is a strategic investment to strengthen its laser cutting services and offer customers fast lead times on dependable schedules.

“Nearly everyone sourcing cutting services understands that laser offers superior precision, quality and speed compared to other methods,” says President Tom Brizek, who founded the family-owned company in 2005. “That has increased demand for laser-cut parts and buried many of the cutting companies. We needed to increase our laser cutting capabilities to make sure our customers get top priority.”

In addition to laser cutting, TAB Industries’ in-house capabilities encompass metal fabrication, CNC and traditional machining, MIG/TIG welding, stamping, deburring, and powder coating as well as engineering, finishing, assembly, packaging, and supply chain services. The laser cutter is the company’s most-recent equipment investment, following acquisition of a new press brake, TIG welding station, and powder coating line.
