Klaus Nordmann founded Nordmann GmbH & Co. KG in 1989 with two inventions: the acoustic emission hydrophon (sensor SEH) to monitor acoustic emission using a cooling jet as a wave guide, and an electromagnetic sensor for noncontact detection of the dynamic portion of torque while drilling (sensor EMS-DYN).

Made in Switzerland, the SEM-Modul-e from Nordmann Tool Monitoring USA (Chantilly, VA) for Siemens’ Sinumerik 840D sl CNC control (PCU 50.5 Windows 7 and TCU) alerts operators to pending breaks on even the smallest tools. Using strategies including strategic and dynamic limits, the system monitors active power, acoustic emissions torque, current, force, hydraulic pressure, distance or laser light via internal PROFIBUS. Acoustic sensors can be added to monitor workpiece dimensions.

Internal drive data and analog sensor measurement values are analyzed simultaneously. Up to 36 measurement curves are displayed.
