“We felt the time was right to return to live trade shows, and our customers were anxious to be back offering their contract manufacturing services to OEMs,” says Jerry Schmidt, president of Design-2-Part Shows (Prospect, CT). “With so many manufacturers and OEMs still restricting vendor visits, the demand for a safe and controlled face-to-face sales environment was at an all-time high.”
Attendance has been higher than expected. Atlanta kicked off Design-2-Part’s (D2P’s) return in late May at the Cobb Galleria Centre. OEMs showed they were ready to conduct business as the show floor had with over 1,000 qualified attendees. The Texas show, held in early June, drew 1,504 OEM engineers and buyers, the second highest number of attendees ever for a Southwest D2P show. In late June, the momentum continued with 1,514 attendees and over 225 exhibiting companies at the show in Uncasville, CT, held at Mohegan Sun.
D2P will wrap up its spring/summer show season in Schaumburg, IL, on August 4-5. “Schaumburg is one of our anchor shows,” Schmidt says, “so we are looking forward to returning to such a critical manufacturing market. Exhibit space is in high demand this year and is selling out quickly.”
Following the Schaumburg show, after a short break, Design-2-Part will return with a full slate of shows in the fall: Marlborough, MA; Akron, OH; Oaks, PA; Indianapolis, IN; and Raleigh, NC.
Design-2-Part Shows provides U.S. manufacturers with an efficient opportunity to meet local and national job shops and contract manufacturers face-to-face to source custom parts, components, services, and design. Exhibiting companies showcase their design-through-manufacturing services, featuring more than 300 product categories for the metal, plastics, rubber, and electronics industries.
