ATI Industrial Automation Acquired by Novanta

As of August 31, ATI Industrial Automation (Apex, NC) was officially purchased by Novanta Inc. (Bedford, MA). Novanta provides laser systems, vision systems, and motion-control components to manufacturers of medical equipment and advanced industrial equipment.

ATI said that both companies have complementary technologies. Novanta develops and manufactures drives, motors, encoders, and actuators, enabling precise motion. ATI develops robotic end-effectors with a focus on tool changing, material removal, and force/torque sensing. ATI added that the combination of the two companies will strengthen all of their product offerings for the most demanding robotic and automation applications.
