Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence (North Kingstown, RI) extended its support for global charity partner Wings for Life with a festive donation. Instead of sending Christmas cards, the company opted for a cobranded digital message raising awareness of Wings for Life’s mission to find a cure for spinal cord injury. The money saved has been donated to help the charity in its ground-breaking research projects, which have already given hope to the hundreds of thousands of people affected by spinal cord injury every year.

The company’s relationship with Wings for Life began earlier in 2015 when employees from around the world entered the charity’s flagship fundraising event, the Wings for Life World Run. Taking place in 35 locations simultaneously, this unique event featured mobile ‘catcher cars’ instead of a finish line so that participants could run as far as they were personally able to. All –100 percent – of the entry fees and donations go directly to spinal cord research, and Hexagon made an additional donation for every employee participant.

Carole Talbot, the dead of talent and development at Hexagon, visited Wings for Life’s London office prior to the holidays to present a check for $5,400 to the charity. She was accompanied by business development analyst and Wings for Life World Run competitor Oliver Jones, who ran an impressive 12.5 miles during the 2015 event at Silverstone, UK.

“Wings for Life’s dedication to making technological innovations that improve people’s lives really resonates with us,” said Talbot. “We develop technology solutions that enable manufacturers to sense, think and act to improve quality and productivity. Wings for Life funds world-class research and clinical trials focused on the spinal cord – the messaging system between the brain and the body – which allows all of us to sense, think and act every day. It’s an inspirational cause and I’m delighted to make this donation on behalf of all our employees.”

“We are very excited to be working with a well-respected and global organization such as Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence,” said Hannah Bostock, the partnerships manager at Wings for Life UK who accepted the check. “We believe that the question is not if effective treatments and cures will be found for spinal injury, but indeed when they will be found. We’re looking forward to working with them to ensure we reach this vital goal, and thank them for their tremendous support.”
