Foot and Leg Protection

This category includes garments and devices used to protect the legs, feet, and lower body from being injured by rolling or falling objects that might cause crushing or penetrating injuries to the worker, along with garments that protect from heat, corrosive, or otherwise toxic materials. This category also includes non-conductive footwear to protect workers who may be exposed to electrical hazards. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) meant to protect the feet and legs can include leggings (may incorporate safety snaps for quick removal), meta-tarsal guards (strapped to the shoes, protecting the instep from impact and compression), toe guards (fit over the toes of regular shoes or incorporated into the shoe itself), and specialized shoes such as foundry shoes or rubberized non-conductive shoes.
