Enertrag France SARL (Cergy, France), a subsidiary of Enertrag AG (Dauerthal, Germany), expects to begin construction of the first offshore windfarm in France in the second quarter of 2009.

According to a report by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, TX), this project was awarded to the company in 2005, but construction permits were not obtained until September 2008. The Cote d'Albatre Wind Farm is to be located in the Veulettes-sur-Mer Commune, in the Haut-Normandie region of France. Multibrid GmbH (Bremerhaven, Germany), in which French company Areva (Paris) holds 51 percent of the shares and Prokon Nord (Leer, Germany) holds 49 percent, will deliver 21 M5000 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 5 megawatts (MW). Cote d'Albatre will have a total output of 105 MW.

Prokon Nord is in charge of construction works, which are scheduled to start during the second quarter of 2009 and are expected to last until the third quarter of 2010. Before the installation of the turbines, which are planned to start in July 2009, 21 kilometers of underground transmission lines need to be built.
