ADVANCED FIVE-AXIS MACHINING IN A SMALL FOOTPRINT

The DMU 50 and DMU 50 eco machining centers from DMG/Mori Seiki cost effectively reduce the total production time from purchase of raw materials to finished products.

Posted: October 30, 2010

DMG/Mori Seiki's (Chicago, IL) DMU 50 provides advanced technology on a small footprint, with three to five axes, while the DMU 50 eco uses the same configuration as the DMU 50 and is equipped with well-chosen functions necessary for indexing 5-axis machining as standard, offers excellent cost performance.

The DMU 50 eco uses an NC swivel rotary table with digital drives as standard. The NC swivel rotary table consists of the B-axis with the tilt angle from minus 5 deg to +110 deg and the C-axis that can rotate 360 deg. The B-axis, which can tilt another 20 deg from vertical position, allows backside milling and flexible indexing 5-axis machining by combining with the C-axis. In addition, the machine is equipped with a spindle with the maximum rotational speed of 8,000 min, tool magazine with a tool storage capacity of 16 tools and manual pulse handle as standard.

The DMU 50 eco, equipped with functions and features required for 5-axis machines, contributes to reducing the total production time from purchase of raw materials to finished products.

DMU 50
Optimal flexibility — Variable options ranging from the rigid to swivel rotary table with digital drives for 5-axis simultaneous machining.
High workpiece weights and maximum precision due to the integrated swivel rotary table with large bearing diameters in both rotary axes
Loading of the tool magazine parallel to processing time–tool changer with 16-, 30- or 60-tool pockets.
Direct measuring systems (optional) guarantees higher precision.
Powerful motor spindle with up to 18,000 rpm.
Digital drives, machine base made of polymer compound, an integrated swivel rotary table (optional) and advanced, wide roller guideways.

DMU 50 eco
Maximum efficiency — 5-axis machining of simple to highly complex workpieces.
Maximum precision — NC swivel rotary table with digital drives.
Powerful milling spindle (8,000 rpm).
Tool changer with 16 pockets in the pick-up magazine.
Direct measuring system (optional) and centrally lubricated roller guideway for long-lasting precision.
