Hobart Brothers (TROY, OH) now offers its premier Hobart Fabshield XLR-8 and Fabshield XLNT-6 self-shielded flux-cored wires in a new packaging design. Each package features a screen-printed box with the product logos, along with valuable wire parameter information to assist customers in proper welding procedure. The new packaging also helps differentiate between the two wires with a quick glance, so that both distributors and customers can easily stock and inventory the products. Hobart Brothers has also included cool helmet stickers in every box.

Hobart Brothers Fabshield XLR-8 wire offers all-position welding capabilities, while the Fabshield XLNT-6 wire has been designed for flat and horizontal welding applications. Both wires offer excellent slag removal, along with high impact strengths at low temperatures and are designed to improve productivity on demanding heavy equipment, barge or tank fabrication and field repair applications. They also excel in structural steel erection, bridge construction and ship fabrication.

The Fabshield XLR-8 wire offers low hydrogen weld deposits — less than 6.7 ml per 100 g of weld deposit — and is capable of producing vertical-up welds at high current levels. Testing shows that it has the most reliable out-of-position welding capabilities (at both high and low heat inputs) of any T-8 self-shielded flux-cored wire in its class. The Fabshield XLNT-6 wire provides high deposition rates and excellent arc stability, allowing contractors to improve their productivity compared to using comparably classified stick electrodes. This wire provides a tensile strength of 87,200 psi.

Hobart Brothers offers the Fabshield XLR-8 wire in 1/16 in, .072 in and 5/64 in diameters and the Fabshield XLNT-6 wire in 5/64 in and 3/32 in diameters.
