Machining cutters for aluminum and stainless achieve material removal rates of up to 400 percent higher as compared to conventional machining.

Seco Tools (Troy, MI) has added JHP490 for aluminum and JHP760 for stainless steel to its family of Jabro High Performance Machining (HPM) cutters. The HPM strategy is based upon the idea of facilitating very high material removal using conventional feeds and speeds in combination with high depth-of-cut for maximum productivity at the lowest possible cost. This results in material removal rates of up to 400 percent higher as compared to conventional machining delivered at the lowest possible production cost.

The Jabro HPM solid carbide milling cutters feature a high helix and uniquely designed flute cavity resulting in good chip evacuation. A thick core body offers increased rigidity and the cutting edge design can handle both high strength and low cutting forces. These geometric characteristics are optimized with a specially adapted carbide substrate and TiAIN coating.
The JHP760, developed for general machining, medical and aerospace, features an uneven tooth pitch to reduce vibration and chatter to offer excellent surface finish and increased tool life. The JHP760 comes in a number of standard lengths with flute lengths in +/-2xD and +/-3xD, extensive range of corner radii and standard diameters ranging from 4.0 to 25 mm. It’s available in either two- or four-flute designs.

The JHP490 is suited for general machining and aerospace. It features a specially designed chipbreaker profile on the cutting edge, which creates smaller chips and decreases cutting forces to eliminate vibration and tool deflection. It is available in two- or three-flute designs. Both the new HPM tools come standard with internal cooling channels.
