The INTEGREX e-1060V/8 II Multi-Tasking Center from Mazak Corporation (Florence, KY) provides full turning and milling capabilities and features a unique milling spindle that tilts up to 150 deg to allow both horizontal and vertical machining operations, angle boring and milling on multiple faces. The machine also offers full simultaneous 5-axis cutting to reduce throughput time for large parts of substantial complexity.

Like other INTEGREX verticals, the e-1060V/8 II headstock features a powerful 50 hp, 10,000 rpm milling spindle for full 5-axis heavy-duty machining on the B-axis with 150 deg (-30 deg to +120 deg) rotation for vertical, horizontal, and angular cutting. Also running at 50 hp, the machine’s turning spindle operates up to 500 rpm max.

This system delivers ultra-high accuracies on turned, angled, and sculptured part characteristics, inside and out, often without moving the workpiece after its initial clamping. Substantial savings can be achieved through the elimination of numerous setups and avoidance of tolerance stack-ups. To machine workpieces of a wide variety of materials, shapes and sizes, this machine tool offers six different workholding pallets, including square or round pallet or chuck, which can be expanded to a Palletech system. With the 39.3 in square pallet, the machine accommodates workpieces to a maximum 49.2 in diameter and 49.2 in height, weighing up to 5,950 lb.

Axis travels are 73.8 in x 41.7 in x 52.9 in on the X, Y and Z axes, with a rapid traverse rate of 1,653 ipm. The C-axis rotates at 0.0001 deg incrementally, while the B-axis travels 150 deg. Intelligent Machine functions on the INTEGREX e-1060V/8 II help ensure long-term accuracy and trouble-free operations. The Intelligent Balance Analyzer (IBA) aids in the machining of heavy parts by monitoring the distribution of fixture and part weight to determine if an unsafe, unbalanced condition exists. If so, it will identify the locations in need of adjustment to re-balance the load. During operation, it will also automatically stop the table rotation if an unbalanced condition exists.

The machine is equipped with the e-Tower, which features many advanced functions designed to improve productivity. The e-Tower provides instructions for safe operation, best-practice recommendations for higher productivity, assistance when recovering from an alarm, troubleshooting and a wide variety of tutorials and documentation on the machine and its operation. www.mazakusa.com
