The high accuracy, ultra rigidity and advanced automation of the versatile HU100A-5XL from Mitsui Seiki can be customized to suit specific user needs easily and affordably.

Mitsui Seiki USA, Inc. (Franklin Lakes, NJ) demonstrates its large capacity, heavy duty and customizable machining centers that are an integral aspect of the Mitsui Seiki philosophy based on a set of standard modular components that can be arranged to suit specific customer needs easily and affordably.

The high accuracy and ultra rigidity of these machine tools comes from attention to the basic structure, 3D FEM Design, hand scraping of all castings for geometry and frequency tuning, plus hardened and ground steel box ways. All critical components for the machines are designed, manufactured and quality controlled in-house at one of the world’s most advanced machine tool factories.

The versatile HU100A-5XL is ideal for heavier applications in aerospace, power generation, refrigeration and compressor, mold and die, and off-road equipment that require machine rigidity, stiffness and high accuracy. Users can choose axis travels from 1300 mm to 2500 mm, 4-, 5-, or 6-axes of continuous motion with a choice of a rotary table, trunnion table, or table on table.

A variety of spindle choices includes fixed spindles from 6000 rpm (50 hp, 2000 ft-lb torque) for heavy milling up to 20,000 rpm for high speed applications. Tilt or swivel spindle choices are available from 6000 rpm for heavy milling up to 12,000 rpm for high speed machining. Quill type spindles  can be used for precision boring with shorter tools.

These machines can be equipped with simple pallet changers to fully integrated FMS systems for work and raw material handling. Tool handling systems range from on-board magazines to central systems for more than 2500 tools. The HU100A-5XL machine is ideal for larger aerospace and power generation parts featuring an X, Y, Z work zone capacity of 2000 mm x 1750 mm x 1400 mm.

The machine accommodates a weight up to 11,000 lb (5000kg). Other features include maximum spindle torque of 2,000 ft-lb, CAT-50 Tool Taper, dual pallet changer, an automatic workpiece/fixture measuring and compensation system, non-contact laser tool setting device, 3D tool compensation, dynamic feature offset and Fanuc 30iM control. www.mitsuiseiki.com
