The future-orientated DirectDrive system used for the turrets affords each of the powered tools a 34 Nm torque and speeds of up to 10,000 rpm. Both DirectDrive turrets are equipped with a Y-axis – the top revolver has a field of action of ±60 and the bottom turret traverses ±40 in the Y direction.

Liquid-cooled spindles ensure maximum thermal stability during processing and (in combination with the direct measuring systems in the X axes) optimum machining reliability and precision, while the rapid traverses of up to 45 m/min keep processing times to a minimum.

Even in the standard version both DirectDrive turrets are equipped with the TRIFIX® precision tool quick change interface in all tool stations. So time-consuming adjustments inside the machine are a thing of the past. Instead the tools are positioned in the fixture during changeover via the TRIFIX® interface leading to an 80 percent reduction in set up times. TRIFIX® also impresses with a repeat accuracy in the micron range and a highly stable tool holder. This guarantees maximum precision and a secure and reliable process even where difficult component materials are concerned.

Thanks to ShopTurn 3G the Siemens 840D solutionline offers far more when it comes to programming than just the basic machining processes such as contour turning, recessing and recess turning or mould, path and thread milling. Particular mention in this context must be given to the 2-channel programming of the top and bottom turrets for 2-sided machining or up to 4-axis milling with both turrets on the main or counter spindle.

And in addition when it comes down to control intelligence, the CNC is the embodiment of complete expertise that is reflected in particular in the special technology cycles that are specifically generated for eccentric milling and turning, multi-thread cycle, alternating rotation speed, for example, or the efficient use of special tools.

Customized machine options and sequence control are quickly implemented with ShopTurn 3G – whether you are talking about the use of a steady rest or rather disk turret steady rests or devices for parts handling. Last, but not least, the control also offers user images for fast setup while the DMG SOFTkeys® allow the integration of additional and more detailed status information.

Highlights of the CTX beta 800 4A include:

  • 2 × 12 station VDI 40 DirectDrive-turret with max. speed: 10,000 rpm for highest performance*
  • Y-axis* at both turrets (top ±60 mm, bottom ±40 mm) for sophisticated complete machining of bar-, shaft- and chuck parts.
  • Turret with TRIFIX®-precision interface for set up time reduction and improved tool precision and rigidity
  • TWIN-concept*: Coss stroke of counter spindle-tailstock combination for flexible use of working area, e.g. 4-axis machining with tailstock support on the main spindle or parallel machining on the main- and counter spindle
  • Shortest machining time due to rapid traverses up to 45 m/min
  • Fast and simple programming with Siemens ShopTurn 3 G
  • Highest rigidity and long term accuracy, rigid construction, guide size 45
  • Intelligent handling solution
