The abrasive waterjet manufacturer hires a sales executive to strengthen its corporate and customer relationships along with a shop foreman over its new facility.

IMS WaterJet, Inc. (Waterbury, CT), a high tech manufacturer of U.S.-made waterjet cutting systems, promoted Bill Zomro to vice president of sales for the United States and Canada, reporting to Mark Hayden, the president and chief executive officer.

Zomro was hired in April as the company’s eastern regional sales manager and now, in his new position, he oversees IMS WaterJet’s relationship with distributors and customers across North America.

“Bill has a proven track record with 30 years experience in developing, initiating, and leading sales strategies in the manufacturing industry,” stated Hayden. “In addition, his 15 years leadership experience within the abrasive waterjet industry will help provide the sales team with a clear understanding of the products they sell to foster strong customer relationships, grow sales, and strengthen our brand.”

Prior to joining IMS WaterJet, Zomro held sales leadership positions at several companies within the machine tool and metal finishing industries.

The company also hired Thomas DeMatteo as the shop foreman of its new facility in Waterbury. “With nearly 30 years manufacturing experience, Tom has the right mix of leadership, problem-solving, and tool-making skills to supervise our shop team,” noted Hayden. “We are seeing a rapid increase in demand for customized solutions, and his background in developing processes and tools for a wide variety of applications makes him a vital component in our growth plan as we expand into new markets designing systems that can handle any fabrication challenge.”

Prior to joining the company, DeMatteo held the position of CNC toolmaker and tooling engineer at Radiall USA. He resides in East Haven, CT, serves on the executive board of directors for the Foxon Recreation League, and coaches girls softball and basketball in his spare time.

In related news, the company recently moved its headquarters to a new location in Waterbury that is four times the size of its previous facility in Oxford, CT. The much larger site will enable the company to rapid-produce, design and fabricate bigger, more elaborate and specialized machines that they couldn’t handle at their previous location. The company is experiencing increased growth due to a strong demand for their customized solutions.

“The city of Waterbury has been particularly helpful and encouraging throughout the move,” explained Hayden. “We’d like to thank Mayor Neil O’Leary and the Waterbury Development Corporation (WDC), for helping to make the move a success and for providing the necessary funding that made this relocation possible. The goal is to bring industry jobs back into Waterbury, which was once one of the largest industrial manufacturing cities in Connecticut’s Naugatuck Valley.”

In their new facility, IMS WaterJet now has the space to do even more for their customers, and have already started to expand their workforce by adding more fabricators, machinists, engineers, marketing, and sales personnel.

Customized for the precise cut, IMS WaterJet manufactures waterjet cutting systems that are so exact they are used beyond the metal cutting world to process a variety of materials including food, glass, stone, tile, rubber, composites, textiles, electronics, and more.

In addition to customized systems, the company offers a standardized off-the-shelf PRO Series line of extremely accurate and competitively priced high-end models, as well as a value-priced EL Series. www.imswaterjet.com
