This fiber laser system performs cutting, welding and other laser processes on precision 3D parts and assemblies without the danger of deforming the part.

In the current production environment, the need to efficiently process precision 3D parts and assemblies is an economic necessity. The ability to eliminate or expedite processing steps while maintaining exceptional part quality and accuracies represents the key challenges of manufacturers.

The UW 505F from Rofin-Sinar, Inc. (Plymouth, MI) provides a highly versatile answer to this need by offering the user easy programming, fast setup, high speed processing, exceptional accuracy and repeatability while obtaining the superior part quality of fiber-delivered laser processing.

Cutting, welding and other laser processes can be performed on precision 3D parts and assemblies without the danger of deforming the part. Part quality and accuracy are ensured, because the ‘tool’ is a precisely controlled beam of laser energy.

The UW 505F, coupled with a FL Fiber Laser, represents an exciting new tool for custom fabricators and manufacturers. Depending on the application, 500 watts to 4000 watts are available on the workstation.

Processing precision 3D parts requires a unique machine tool that combines fiber delivered laser cutting or welding capabilities with precision linear and rotary drives. In addition, it needs to allow the operator to efficiently program the tool path with 3D CADCAM software. CENIT FastTrim software completes the UW505 package with a proven solution for demanding 3D applications.

The UW505F is ideal for aerospace, medical, electronic and other precision 3D part applications. Its precision ball screw or optional linear motor drives combined with the rotary drives are capable of maintaining high tolerance cutting and welding requirements. Part accuracies of +0.001 in are well within the processing capabilities of the machine. A work zone of up to 1.0 m x 1.0 m x 0.6 m is completely enclosed to ensure operator safety.

The Siemens 840 Di SL Control is an industry standard that features a Window XP Operating System with a user friendly HMI Operator Interface. The ergonomic control cabinet is strategically placed for efficient operation.

The UW505F Universal Workstation can be equipped with a number of options based on the user’s specific application needs: custom fiber beam delivery and optics, camera viewing and vision systems, part specific tooling, and material handling solutions, such as robotic automation or rotary indexing tables. info@rofin-inc.comwww.rofin.com
