Additionally, Don Graham, manager of education and technical services at Seco Tools showed how the right tooling can lower costs per part and have a direct affect on a manufacturing company’s bottom line. The event also featured “Knowledge Bar” group discussions led by Seco, SME, CIM and CEC.

In related news, for the second year in a row, the National Association for Business Resources (NABR) named Seco Tools one of the nation’s “Best and Brightest Companies to Work For.” The company received the honor for upholding the highest quality human resources initiatives, including employee engagement, work-life balance, open-door policies, training programs and employee events.

According to Dan Sikora, director of operations and human resources for Seco, the company makes recruiting and retaining talented employees a top priority, which is critical in a time when skilled workers within the manufacturing sector are at a premium.

“We are in an industry that constantly competes to obtain and keep the best talent, and we value each employee for his and her contribution to the customer experience,” said Sikora. “We have built a culture on trust and mutual respect. It’s been the foundation to our success and the cornerstone principle for how we work with our customers and our employees.”

The company offers several programs to reward dedicated, responsible and creative employees, as well as fosters an environment that listens to employees. Furthermore, the company provides comprehensive training to empower employees to achieve optimal performance, takes a solutions-oriented approach to product quality and innovation, and builds cross-functional teams to drive future company growth.

Three fundamental values help shape this corporate culture: passion for customers, family spirit and personal commitment. These ideals define the company’s approach to business and come across in every interaction with employees, customers, suppliers and other business partners.

“Our list of nationally recognized companies has grown significantly this year. This exceptional growth is a testament to how important this designation is for companies that want to have the best and brightest employees working for them,” said Jennifer Kluge, president of the National Association for Business Resources. “We are proud to recognize and honor these winning companies.”

When selecting the 113 nationally recognized winning companies for 2012, NABR worked with an independent research firm that reviewed several key measures, including compensation; benefits and employee solutions; employee enrichment, engagement and retention; employee education and development; employee achievement and recognition; communication and shared vision; community initiatives; and strategic company performance.

In addition to this national recognition, Corp! Magazine recently listed Seco as one of “Metropolitan Detroit’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For.” This 2012 honor marks the fourth year in a row where the magazine has recognized Seco for providing a highly motivating and rewarding work experience to employees.
