Longtime leading supplier of explosion proof lighting equipment Larson Electronics has announced the release of a heavy duty extension cord designed to provide secure connection of explosion proof equipment in hazardous locations.

Larson Electronics’ (Kemp, TX) EPEXC-100-250V Explosion Proof Extension Cord features 100 ft of length and 20 amps of load carrying capacity, making it ideal for extending the range of lighting and equipment in locations where flammable gases and vapors are present.

The explosion proof extension cord from Larson Electronics is designed to extend the reach of equipment in hazardous locations where power receptacles are not in close proximity to the work space. The cord is 100 ft in length, providing ample length for moving about the work space. This unit is constructed with 100 ft of 12/3 SOOW explosion proof cord rated at 250 volts and 20 amps, making it ideal for connecting lighting and power tools when power receptacles are not near the work area.

This cord is fitted with an explosion proof twist lock receptacle constructed of non-sparking aluminum on one end for connection of equipment and a EPP-250-2P-20A explosion proof plug on the other for safe and secure connection to power receptacles. This cord and its plug and receptacle are a 3 pole 2 wire design which works with most common explosion proof equipment.

The cord is oil/chemical and abrasion resistant for durability, and the receptacle features deep recessed contacts for protection against arcing and a powder coat finish for resistance to corrosion. This explosion proof extension cord is Class 1 Div 1 Groups C, D and Class 2 Div 1 Groups E, F, and G rated, making it ideal for use in hazardous locations where flammable gases and vapors are present.

For the utmost protection operators should make connections outside the hazardous area and only use this cord with properly rated explosion proof plugs and receptacles in order to maintain compliance with hazardous location regulations. This cord is perfect for connecting explosion proof lighting, fans and blowers, and extending the range of portable power supplies and substations within the hazardous work area.

“We offer a wide range of explosion proof extension cords with different lengths and connectors in stock; we also build custom configurations for customers on demand,” said Rob Bresnahan with Larson Electronics’ website. “We commonly build these cords for our customers to accompany our explosion proof lights and/or our power distribution systems.”
