Datron Dynamics, Inc. (Milford, NH) offers their M8Cube high-speed machining center for the first time on the West Coast. The M8Cube is Datron’s newest model and represents all of the company’s latest advancements in high-speed machining technology, including brushless, direct drives that provide fast acceleration, feed rates up to 866 ipm and short cycle times.

A 3kW, 40,000 rpm, liquid-chilled spindle delivers greater horsepower for heavier machining, as well as the flexibility to mill a wide range of materials. HSK-E 25 tool holders offer precision and <1 micron run out. Datron has positioned this model for precision, high or low volume production of electronic, aerospace and medical parts, as well as industrial engraving and micro-drilling applications.

This video shows a German-engineered M8Cube machining center milling a mold for a the production of a radio-controlled Quadrocopter using rushless, direct drives for faster acceleration, feed rates up to 866 ipm and shorter cycle times. The M8 Cube has a small footprint of 69 in x 69 in with a large work area of 40 in x 28 in x 9 in (X,Y,Z) for multiple setups.

The M8 Cube is controlled by a dynamic Windows-based software that has the flexibility to integrate with third-party software and automation systems. Operation indicator lights built in to the gantry and control provide visible machine status eliminating the need for additional light sticks. Other options include a spray-mist coolant system, integrated 3D probing and automatic tool changers with up to 30 stations and tool-length sensing. The M8 Cube is ideal for precision, high or low volume production of electronic, aerospace and medical parts, as well as industrial engraving applications.

According to company vice president Robert Murphy, “With the almost simultaneous opening of our new West Coast Technology Center and the launch of the M8Cube, we decided this show is the ideal venue to make these introductions.” The new Technology Center that was opened in Livermore, CA, this past July will house this M8Cube as a demonstration machine following the show. The facility showcases other popular machine models and allows the company to demonstrate the advanced capabilities of this equipment by milling “benchmark” parts for prospective customers. www.datron.com, amy.spencer@datron.com
