Macro Sensors (Pennsauken, NJ) has reached a personal milestone in engineering its 1,000th custom Linear Position Sensor design in addressing a unique operating requirement that provides reliable and long-term incremental position feedback underwater as part of a sub-sea measurement system.

Subsea environments are some of the most difficult areas for any sensor to perform, especially when performance life of as much as 20 years is expected in an underwater application.

The milestone design was engineered as a custom linear position sensor that was hermetically sealed and constructed of special alloys to withstand the temperature, salinity, oxygen levels and seawater depths.

From mechanical changes to complete new designs, the company offers the engineering and manufacturing capabilities to customize linear position sensors or linear variable differential transformers for challenging applications in a variety of industries including oil and gas, subsea, medical, aerospace, military and factory automation, with requirements for LVDT sensor operation in high pressures to 35,000 psi; extreme temperatures to 800 deg F; vacuum conditions; mild radiation, nuclear, chemical and water environments; as well as special configurations for remote locations and tight spaces.

The company’s extensive line of linear and rotary sensors are used for position measurement and feedback in a variety of industrial applications including factory automation, motion control systems, metal fabricating, automotive assembly as well as power plants, gas/steam turbines.
