Mercury Products Acquires New Stamping Press

The 1,000 ton press provides large-scale metal stamping for automotive, heavy truck, off-highway, and other industrial equipment needs.

Posted: December 1, 2014

The freshly painted 1,000 ton stamping press is in place in the Saltillo, Mexico, facility to fulfill customer demands for larger stampings. Mercury Products acquired the press not only to meet growing demand from customers in the automotive, heavy truck, off-highway and other industrial equipment industries, but to give customers improved order efficiency and increased overall cost-savings.

The acquisition of a new 1,000 stamping press by Mercury Products Corporation (Schaumburg, IL) fulfills their customers’ demand for larger stampings required for many automotive, heavy truck, off-highway, and other industrial equipment manufacturing needs. This new capability also allows customers to consolidate any of their metal fabrication and value stream needs with a single supplier, increasing overall cost-savings and improving order efficiency.

Located in the company’s facility in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, Mercury Products customers can now consolidate multiple parts orders that were previously placed with several suppliers. The new large-ton and bed stamping press compliments existing capabilities including metal stamping and fabrications, tube assemblies, welding, polishing and buffing, and everything in-between.

“Many original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) want to work with Tier One suppliers that can provide a full range of capabilities,” said Keith Briggs, the vice president of operations at Mercury Products. “Not only are we better equipped to fill those needs with the 1,000 ton press, but we also understand the OEM quality expectations in product fulfillment and business procedures.”
