Nelson Steel (Stoney Creek, ON) and Vigano Srl (Lecco, Italy) are pleased to announce that they have been selected to build a push/pull pickling line in Zamosc, Poland, for ATS (Torun, Poland). Nelson Steel will be responsible for the process section and Vigano is responsible for the entry and exit equipment on the line.

The pickling line includes the 76 complete Process Section that the Nelson Technology Group has engineered and installed over their 46 years of existence. Their unique position as operators/designers and manufacturers of pickling lines makes them an ideal choice as a supplier of steel pickling equipment with expertise in all aspects of operations.

The ATS pickling line is specified for operating at a maximum target of 200,000 MT/year and at a maximum line speed of 40 mpm. Coil sizes for ATS are 30,000 kg maximum, at 6 mm by 1,600 mm maximum width.

The process section equipment consists of:

  • Three Pickling tanks, each 10 m long
  • “Turbo Tunnel” design to affectively reduce consumable cost on acid and gas consumption
  • Acid recirculation system
  • A three-stage Rinse spray system
  • Single air blow-off system
  • Fume exhaust system
  • Ferrous Chloride and raw acid storage tank farm

While this is a relatively smaller capacity pickling line, this is a great opportunity awarded to create greater brand awareness for Nelson Steel in Europe.

The company owns and operates pickling lines and has provided steel pickling services to the steel industry. The Nelson Steel Technology Group has designed and built over 75 complete process sections, including many revamps over this time. Nelson Steel is a division of Samuel, Son Co., Limited (Mississauga, ON).
