Ophir Optics, LLC (North Andover, MA), a leading designer and manufacturer of precision infrared and laser optics for high power CO2 laser and fiber laser cutting, welding, drilling, and 3D printing systems as well as precision IR optics for defense, security and commercial markets, received certification to the AS9100 quality systems standard of ISO 9001:2008 for the design, development and production of its entire range of products.

Achievement of the AS9100 aerospace quality systems standard was certified by The Standards Institution of Israel in accordance with SAE International (Warrendale, PA) requirements. SAE International sets rigorous standards for quality assurance in the design, development, and production of aerospace equipment as well as its installation and servicing.

Ophir Optics, which produces a wide range of state-of-the-art, high performance, infrared components, lenses, and motorized zoom lens systems and laser optics, has a wide range of customers in the defense, security, manufacturing, marine, industrial and environmental thermal imaging industries.

SAE International, which is a global association committed to being the ultimate knowledge source for the engineering profession, has hundreds of thousands of members working in aerospace, commercial vehicle and automotive engineering. The wide acceptance of their standards means their products will gain access to markets previously closed to them.

The standard specifies requirements for effective application of a quality management system, requires that a company strive to meet customer needs, enhance customer satisfaction, and demonstrate continual product improvement while meeting applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

SAE Aerospace Standards apply to missile, airframe, ground-support equipment, propulsion, propeller, and accessory equipment. Many of the lenses produced by Ophir Optics are used in aerospace, commercial vehicle, and automotive applications, such as on ground, air and seaborne vehicles.
