Norsk Titanium AS (Oslo, Norway) has announced that Dawne S. Hickton has been elected to their board of directors. She served as the vice chairman, president and chief executive officer of RTI International Metals (Pittsburgh, PA; now Alcoa Titanium & Engineered Products) from 2007 to 2015. Under her leadership, they experienced aggressive growth through new aerospace contracts, vertical integration, and a series of acquisitions leading to their $1.5 billion acquisition in July 2015 by Alcoa.

“Dawne is one of the world’s foremost experts in delivering large-scale orders of structural titanium components to companies such as Airbus, Boeing and Lockheed Martin,” stated John Andersen, Jr., the chairman of Norsk. “Bringing on an executive leader of her caliber demonstrates how seriously we view our company’s role in revolutionizing the titanium industry.”

“I am honored to join the board and contribute to the exciting journey here,” said Hickton. “During my tenure, RTI became one of the first major companies in the metals industry to embrace additive manufacturing, which led to our strategic investment in Norsk last year. I am very excited to leverage the company’s innovative technology to drive value to aerospace, oil and gas, and other industries looking to cost-reduce their titanium supply.”

Hickton is the president of the International Titanium Association, the director of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, the director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, and a trustee of the University of Pittsburgh. Under her leadership, RTI was named one of America’s “100 fastest-growing companies” by CNN Money. To read her biography, please click here.
