To store, locate, and pick materials for limitless types of applications, the Vidmar Tower vertical storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) from Stanley Vidmar (Allentown, PA) is the ultimate high-density storage solution, designed to take advantage of every available inch of floor space and capable of being built up to 46 ft high with unlimited custom drawer configurations. This AS/RS helps shops get the most performance out of every inch of their manufacturing floor space by managing up to 132,000 lb of materials from one convenient computer console with easy-use touchscreen operation.

The entirely modular structure of the Tower series ensures maximum operator efficiency with optional dual-delivery continuous pick features and a choice of ergonomic picking bay designs and drawer access setup. A variety of security options include automatic doors and password/barcode access. The Tower XL can be built up to 40 ft high with a choice of drawers, drawer pitch, and picking bay positioning, including internal or external flexible picking bay options that are opposite or above each other. The system is ergonomically designed to allow optimal picking times and help limit overreach while lifting.

Unlimited drawer configurations include up to 240 drawers that can hold up to 1,650 lb each at full capacity can be stored in a few square yards. Drawers are available open or with adjustable partitions and dividers that can be configured in whatever layout best suits your storage needs. Drawers range from 86-5/8 in to 21-1/2 ft wide and up to 21-1/2 in deep. Drawer height is adjustable.

This computer-based operation runs by a touch-screen console backed by a PC for easy access to all operational functions at any time (software is based on Windows XP® operating platform and can be easily integrated with an existing computer system). Drawers can be accessed by drawer number, part number, or part description. Multiple Tower systems can be connected and managed using a single server. Flexible management software is available in three basic configurations (Systore Inside, Systore Base, Systore Inside Modula driver) that offer thousands of operating possibilities.

Fast picking eliminates extra walking, one of the leading causes of inefficiency, to maximize operator productivity. The Tower can be installed indoors or outdoors with an independent, insulated structure supplied by others, Local lock-out and tag-out disconnects are available on all Tower models, along with an emergency stop. All motors have brake locks and all units have product height and personnel protection sensors. Locking doors are optional, automatic doors are standard on some models, optional on others. User access is via password/bar code. Tower accessories include closing doors, drawer partitions and dividers, sliding trays, bar code readers, label printers, and counting scales.
