In Booth W-2000, the EGP electric small part gripper from SCHUNK, Inc. (Morrisville, NC) offers the most compact performance on the market. The EGP series has been expanded with a smaller size (25) that weighs 110 g and has a stroke of 3 mm per finger. Furthermore, an optional “speed” version of the EGP 25 has been developed. By reducing the internal gear ratio, the speed version exchanges grip force for speed to give the EGP 25 speed version the ability to open or close in 0.03 s. With a grip force of 13 N it is capable of handling parts up to 0.05 kg. For high speed pick-and-place applications where an electric gripper is preferred, the EGP 25 speed version is an excellent choice.

Maintenance-free servomotors and a powerful junction roller guide guarantee a high level of efficiency, making it perfect for demanding pick and place applications. Users can transfer the sensor systems used in the MPG-plus to the EGP-Speed and easily convert existing systems from pneumatic to electrical operation. The EGP 25 Speed takes screws on the side or at the base to increase its flexibility within a system design. In order to increase the dynamics and the energy efficiency of higher-level systems, the gripper housing consists of special high-performance aluminum. The design also eliminated excess material and the electronics are built in the interior to save space. It fulfills protection class IP30 and fits seamlessly in the program for modular high performance assembly from SCHUNK.

Also on display will be the standard TENDO-Tech line of special toolholders that have technical features incorporated into the toolholder or are designed for a niche market or application and are manufactured from the same high grade tool steel as the Platinum line. The TENDO-ES is extremely short and rigid and the tool shank is clamped inside the machine spindle taper. It is excellent for low clearance situations and is the perfect combination with the SVL extension, which is quick and easy to change. The TENDO-TURN is easy to change in turret-mounted and CNC lathe applications. It is excellent for thru coolant drills and has added vibration dampening. The TENDO-RLA offers easy and accurate tool length presetting. The TENDO-ZERO is the toolholder to use for ultimate control of run-out for reaming and precision drilling. All of the TENDO-TECH line offer direct clamping diameters for the best precision, have a run-out of 0.003 mm or less, have superior vibration dampening and are repairable. They are available in CAT 40 and CAT 50 tapers and are sleeveable for added flexibility.

Also being displayed will be the fast, extremely accurate quick change VERO-S clamping, workholding, and positioning system that reduces set up changes by 90 percent. Infinite combinations are possible, as any workholding can be mounted on top, from a standard vise to a custom fixture, for a reliable and consistent changeover. For a micron-precise connection between machine table and workpiece, the VERO-S clamping system makes optimal use of even the smallest machine table. Combine with the comprehensive stationary workholding range from SCHUNK or with your own existing workholding to find the solution to fit your clamping needs. The VERO-S quick-change pallet system delivers fast and precise resetting of workpieces, clamping devices and other equipment on 3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis machining centers.

Workpieces can be directly clamped and machined from five sides without restricting accessibility. This is done by screwing the clamping pins of the Quick-Change Pallet System directly into the workpiece. The components are then quickly exchanged in the machine, positioned, fixed, and clamped all in one step with a repeat accuracy of less than 0.005 mm. The clamping height of the workpieces can be adjusted with module height extensions, so the machine spindle can reach all five sides of the workpiece without any special tools.
