Booth A4425: The automatic Hurricane 2030A horizontal band saw from HE&M Saw uses a 1-1/2 in blade powered by a 10 hp motor and a 5 hp hydraulic system to cut 20 in high x 30 in flat at 90 deg, 20 in flat at 45 deg (left miter), and 13 in flat at 60 deg (left miter). Its display provides easy-to-use menu navigation for programming and recalling automatic jobs, nested job operations, as well as manual functions and programming information required for each job.

In Booth A4425, HE&M Saw, Inc. (Pryor, OK) will feature their VT120HA-60-TS vertical band saw with the new optional 120 in servo-driven bar-feed and their Hurricane 2030A horizontal miter band saw. The VT120HA-60-TS has a cutting capacity of 18 in horizontal by 24 in vertical at 90 deg, 18 in by 16 in at 45 deg left miter, 18 in by 14.75 in at 45 deg right miter, 18 in by 10 in at 60 deg left miter, and 18 in by 9 in at 60 deg right miter. The saw uses a 1-1/4 in blade with a 4 deg blade cant, powered by a 5 hp motor. The VT120HA-60-TS on display will feature the new optional 120 in Ball-Screw Bar-Feed. This bar-feed is a servo-driven, smoother running bar-feed that is faster in cycle times and more accurate in positioning the material to allow for improved efficiency and more accurate part lengths. The feed stroke is 0 to 120 in with multiple indexing for longer part lengths.

The bar-feed table has rollers all the way through and is fully-panned. The feed vise on the bar-feed is bi-directional to provide clamping for mill bundles and to eliminate banding interference. The bar-feed also has a third Holding Vise and Full-Capacity Top Clamp on the Feed Vise for additional clamping during the cutting process. The VT120HA-60-TS has touch screen controls that make programming and running jobs in automatic easy. Previous jobs can be saved and reloaded any time. A standard material list is available on the touch screen with a database of the most common materials ranging from structural steels to high tensile specialty alloys, with each displaying the recommended blade speed, cutting rates and blade pitch for the type and size of the material. A series of cuts from the same bar stock can be programmed with the touch screen by entering jobs that will be run in sequence. A control panel and help files are also available from the touch screen to help assist in operating the saw and troubleshooting.

Also on display will be the Hurricane 2030A, an automatic, horizontal band saw that miters to 60 deg. This saw has a cutting capacity of 20 in high x 30 in flat at 90 deg, 20 in flat at 45 deg (left miter), and 13 in flat at 60 deg (left miter). The saw uses a 1-1/2 in blade powered by a 10 hp motor and a 5 hp hydraulic system. The automatic bar-feed has a 0 to 34 in feed stroke with multiple indexing to feed lengths automatically until the saw is out of stock, or to a preset number of cuts. The control console is located on the front of the saw for operator convenience. The Hurricane’s touch screen controls are a PLC-driven system with a heavy duty industrial touchscreen interface for many functions and operations. The display provides easy-to-use menu navigation for programming and recalling automatic jobs, nested job operations, as well as manual functions and programming information required for each job. Other functions include memory storage for a job library, system setup information, diagnostics and saw operation parameters.
