Modular System Specifically for Direct Workpiece Clamping

With basic modules, clamping modules and stacking modules that can all be freely combined, the VERO-S WDB system from SCHUNK uses clamping pillars with a modular structure to clamp freely-molded parts and other workpieces directly on the machine table without the need of additional equipment.

The modular VERO-S WDB system from SCHUNK uses clamping pillars with a modular structure to clamp freely-molded parts and other workpieces directly on the machine table without the need of additional equipment. The system consists of basic modules, clamping modules and stacking modules that can all be freely combined.
The multifaceted, extremely flat KONTEC KSC 80 centric clamping vise from SCHUNK has optimal jaw support for ID and OD clamping and can be easily adapted for conventional clamping, short clamping depths for five-sided machining, mold parts, plates or saw cuts. Its pre-tensioned and backlash-free center bearing and an extra-fitted slide guarantee repeat accuracy of ±0.01 mm and precise processing of the first and second side in a clamping system.

The VERO-S WDB clamping technology modular system from SCHUNK, Inc. (Morrisville, NC) transfers the efficiency levels of the VERO-S quick-change pallet system specifically to machine directly clamped workpieces. By using clamping pillars with a modular structure, freely-molded parts and other workpieces can be clamped directly on the machine table without the need of additional equipment. The modular system consists of basic modules, clamping modules and stacking modules that can all be freely combined. The stacking modules are 30mm and 50 mm so that the height of the clamping pillars can be varied in intervals of 10 mm to 80 mm without needing any special systems. Height differences can be bridged using the stepless, adjustable, hydraulically clamped VERO-S WDA compensation element.

All interfaces have a taper centering mechanism that is free from play and guarantees a repeat accuracy of <0.005 mm between the individual components. The clamping modules can be actuated and the workpiece can be monitored by an integrated air feed-through, without the need for an external media supply. The actual workpiece clamping takes place by spring force and is a self-locking, form fit process. The workpieces remain safely clamped even if the air pressure suddenly drops. A pneumatic system of 6 bar opens the clamping module.

SCHUNK also offers the KONTEC KSC 80 centric clamping vise, a multifaceted device that has optimal jaw support for ID and OD clamping and can be easily adapted for conventional clamping, short clamping depths for five-sided machining, mold parts, plates or saw cuts. The KSC 80 provides high precision and process reliability with an extremely flat design. A pre-tensioned and backlash-free center bearing and an extra-fitted slide guarantee a repeat accuracy of ±0.01 mm and enable the precise processing of the first and second side in a clamping system. An integrated chip drain and a protected spindle assure maximum process reliability. The centric clamping vise is ideally suited for affordable storage solutions in automated machine tools. This vise is available with jaw width of 40 mm, 80 mm and 125 mm, and a clamping force up to 25 kN.
