Streamlined Dot Peen Marking

Kwik Mark Inc. (McHenry, IL) offers their new X Series dot peen marker that improves overall operation and streamline every aspect of marking parts. Its smarter design boasts high performance for the most demanding applications. A cantilevered marking head provides a clear open line of sight, while the marking head can retract “back” to clear other tooling and equipment. Up to 6 axes are motion control-ready and no PC or control box is required. For custom integration with logic, additional I/O is available. This dot peen marker is manufactured in the U.S. and features machine tool quality construction with a twin rigid upright column leadscrew and ball slide design, brushless servomotors, non-contact limit home sensors and a large T-slot table for fixturing. It is also available with programmable Z axis (full column height).

A true file-based system with a patented iTeach function allows the marking tip to be used as a “pointer” to define the text path. Teach the starting point of a line (one point), the angle to use for angular text (two points), and the radius for arc text (three points), without prints, measuring tools or even the skillset to do layout work. The latest embedded controls feature CF card memory with preprogrammed functions, job selection or data input and bar code input ready. These machines are future upgradable and field-rebuildable. This marking application can be further streamlined with Kwik Dex Indexing Dial, a compact unit that fits directly onto the T-slot table and is self-contained, requiring only one connection to the marker. The number of stops (indexes) is programmable if different types of jobs need to be run. The quick release dial mount provides fast changeovers if required. The Kwik Dex features machine tool quality construction with heavy duty bearings and gearing, a large brushless motor and internal limit sensors. The rear mount pneumatic slide clamps the parts during the marking operation. Additional I/O is included to further automate your process.

Kwik Mark also uses their Bench Top Micro Mark Stand to convert a shop’s portable Micro Marker into an ergonomic benchtop machine. First, the Micro Mark portable dot peen marker features a compact (3 in x 5 in x 6 in) head size and a generous 1.0 in x 2.5 in marking field to suit most industrial marking applications, making it ideal for handheld applications as well as on-machine integration. Additional I/O streamlines “handshaking” with other machinery when required and allows importing data from external files. The Micro Mark features automatic line centering to the part, whether it is single or multiple lines, graphics or both, with no measuring or operator input required. This is perfect for marking around parts such as shafts, pipes and more.

Next, add the Bench Top Micro Mark Stand that has a large machine bed with a 24 in tall column that can accommodate large parts. Its removable handle/guide assembly provides more clearance with less clutter. The “snap-in” mount results in quick change over and requires no tools. The base plate has pre-tapped holes for mounting the user’s own fixture or choosing from selected optional mini vises, vacuum plates, T-slot tables, etc., all of which is manufactured in the U.S.
