The new SG356 scanhead from ShapeGrabber Inc. (Ottawa, ON) delivers a scanning speed gain of up to ten times as compared to their previous SG502 model, as well as greater accuracy and stability under temperature variations. Featuring a shorter wavelength (530 nm) GREEN laser, a new lens and a new imager, the SG356 scanhead delivers improved performance for scanning glossy plastic and reflective metal parts, and is compatible with and ideally suited to their Ai810 industrial 3D scanner. “The SG356 is the third member of our sixth-generation scanhead technology in 3D scanning innovations,” said Pierre Aubrey, the chief executive officer of ShapeGrabber. “Existing users can upgrade their existing Ai810 scanner with this scanhead and enjoy accuracy and significant speed improvements, while new users will enjoy the one of the most advanced 3D scanning technology platforms on the market.”

ShapeGrabber also offers their new SG46 scanhead that delivers noticeable accuracy improvements over the SG42 it replaced, with a scanning speed gain of up to ten times, a larger sensing range and greater stability in temperature variations. It features an improved laser, lens, and imager that captures finer detail and enables cleaner, more accurate scans, and is backwards-compatible with most existing ShapeGrabber scanners. Both the SG356 and SG46 scanheads feature these enhancements:

  • Greater accuracy and tolerance to temperature changes.
  • Variable field of view in addition to depth of field.
  • Larger dynamic sensing range to scan a wider range of part types and surface finishes.
  • Positive lock mounting mechanism for ease of installation and switching with SG156, as well as greater precision.
