Mapal (Port Huron, MI) boring tools now include:

Newly designed chip flute and special face geometry make very high feeds and cutting speeds possible with the Mega Pilot Drill and Mega Deep Drill. The Deep Drill’s head coating optimizes chip removal. Developed for diameters from 1 mm to 2.9 mm.

The Mega Drill Hardened for up to 65 HRC machines depths of 8xD and 12xD. The Mega Speed Drill Inox has a new groove profile for depths of 8xD and 12xD. Chip spaces become larger toward the shank so chips don’t jam in the very finely ground chip flute. A new carbide substrate as well as an innovative coating ensure long tool lives.

If steel is to be machined in unstable conditions using the smallest possible amount of carbide, the company offers the QTD indexable insert with a self-centering pyramid tip. The coating is specially adapted to machining steel to increase wear resistance.
