Abrasives, belts, grinding wheels and deburring and finishing products extend tool life, create consistency in metal removal rates and reduce operator fatigue.

Drag Finishers Ideal for Both Edge Prep and Polishing

Bel Air Finishing Supply Inc.’s (North Kingston, RI) drag finishers, including the AutoHone™, come in multiple configurations and sizes to meet your specific project needs. The company offers tool-honing and edge-prep products from equipment to media. Edge prep, or the honing of cutting tool edges, is known to increase the life of cutting tools by 300% or more. Polishing of cutting tools serves to extend tool life, while also providing additional benefits to the end user.

Drag finishers, when employed for the use of cutting tool edge-treatment, allow for both edge-prep (honing) and polishing of coated and non-coated tools of various materials. Both honing and polishing can be done with only one machine, using the same fixturing. This multi-purpose machine approach serves to reduce equipment, labor, and utility costs while minimizing the required amount of production floor space. The versatility of drag finishers makes them ideal candidates for production cells.

All-Around Polishing Solution for Handrails and Small-Diameter Pipe

The KING-BOA™ Pipe Sander from CS Unitec (Norwalk, CT) is an all-around blending, finishing and polishing solution for handrails, pipe and tubing in diameters from ¾” up to 5”. It has a 10-amp high-torque motor and variable speed control from 800-to 3,000 RPM. The sanding arm wraps up to 270˚ around the pipe and, and with a simple rotation of the tool, a 360˚ finish is achieved. The top handle can be rotated 180˚ for better positioning in tight/narrow spaces, including finishing handrails close to walls.

The design of the KING-BOA requires less operator pressure on the workpiece to achieve the desired finish, increasing productivity and reducing fatigue. The tool is optimally weighted to apply the proper contact of abrasive to workpiece, creating more uniform finishes.

Replacement of the sanding belt is quick and easy. No tools are necessary. Spring resistance between the deflection rollers ensures that the sanding arm and belt are always uniformly tensioned. The KING-BOA saves time finishing stainless steel and other ferrous and nonferrous pipe. It is also ideal for cleaning the pipe surface in preparation for welding.

The KING-BOA comes with a carrying case, six zirconium belts (two each of 60, 80 and 120 grit) and two SC fleece belts, one each medium and fine. Sanding belts come in grits of 24 to 1200. SuperPolish belts are also available for polishing and mirror finishing.

Air-powered Abrasive Belt Machine Replaces Hand Filing and Sanding

Dynabrade’s (Clarence, NY) Dynafile abrasive belt machine grinds, deburrs, blends, and finishes normally inaccessible areas on metal, plastic, fiberglass and other composites. Light corner weld removal and blending of welds are typical applications of this tool. The patented abrasive belt tracking system built into every Dynafile provides trouble-free operation.

More than 30 different interchangeable contact arms are available for a wide range of applications. The Dynafile uses coated abrasive belts 1/2”, 1/4” or 1/8” wide x 24” long. Non-woven nylon and cloth polishing belts are also available. The 20,000 rpm tool weighs only three pounds. The lightweight, composite housing reduces vibration and is thermal insulated to prevent cold air transmission to the operator’s hands. The air motor is also adjustable to the most comfortable throttle lever position.

A line of Dynafile accessories is also available which include coated, non-woven nylon and cloth polishing belts, Dynaswivel air-line connectors, Dyna-Jet In-Line Blow Guns, Motor Tune-Up Kits, Tool Bench Mounts and more. Made in the USA.
