RoboVent has updated its Spire robotic weld fume extractor.

RoboVent, a leader in industrial dust collection and air filtration, has released an updated modular version of their popular Spire™ robotic weld fume extractor. Known for its small footprint and versatility, Spire is now available in three sizes and CFM ratings to accommodate a greater range of airflow requirements.

Designed specifically for robotic weld fume collection, RoboVent Spire™ is one of RoboVent’s most popular dust collectors. With three sizes, the new Spire series allows manufacturers to tailor their dust collection system to their exact needs for greater energy savings and lower overall operating and maintenance costs. “The new, modular Spire can now be sized to better meet the needs of manufacturers with smaller robotic cells or individual robots,” said Rick Kreczmer, President, RoboVent. “You don’t always need the 5,500 CFM that the full-size original Spire provides. We now offer Spire in three sizes, so manufacturers aren’t paying for airflow they don’t need.”

All of the Spire units have a footprint of just 36” x 36”, or about the same size as a wire barrel, giving Spire the smallest footprint per CFM in the industry. All three units will retain the same small footprint as the original but will have different heights to accommodate different filter configurations.

  • The smallest size, with four filter cartridges and 2,200 CFM, is perfect for a single robot or small 10’x10’ weld cell.
  • The medium, with six filter cartridges and 3,300 CFM, will support a larger 15’ x 15’ robotic cell.
  • The large ten-cartridge Spire, with 5,500 CFM, will support up to two robotic weld cells.

The modular system was designed for energy savings and versatility. The units are ducted directly to the weld cell, eliminating the need for complicated centralized ductwork. And since they are small, they are easy to move with the cell if production lines change. “We designed Spire as a cost-effective and versatile alternative to centralized, ducted dust collection systems,” said Alysha Yinger, Director of Engineering, RoboVent. “It gives manufacturers more flexibility when they need to retool production lines or add capacity. Now, with three sizes, we’re giving them even more options.”

Spire’s small footprint is due in part to innovative filter design. RoboVent’s PleatLock technology, featured on the Spire™ filters, has 35% more usable filter media within the same cartridge size. This minimizes the size of the unit per CFM and allows each filter to capture more particulate, allowing for a longer time between filter changes.

All three Spire versions retain the plug-and-play features that make Spire easy to place and move as factory configurations change. The units are easy to operate and maintain, with a simple, 7” full-color HMI control panel. An automated pulsing system and deflector plates protect the filters and extend filter life. Spire also features eDrive, an automatic variable frequency drive (VFD) motor that adjusts the motor speed to compensate for filter loading and save energy. A clean agent gas fire suppression system is optional.

The new Spire series joins RoboVent’s lineup of innovative dust collectors and weld fume extractors released in the last few years, including RoboVent Senturion™, their flagship dust collector. RoboVent also recently reengineered their popular portable ProCube™ weld fume collector. “RoboVent remains committed to innovation and engineering excellence in dust and fume extraction,” said Frank Cea, VP, Growth & Engagement. “The new Spire series came about as a direct result of listening to the needs of our customers. We’ll continue to listen and look for opportunities to make our products more efficient, safer, more effective and better aligned with market requirements.”
