Niigata Machine Techno USA Inc. (Elk Grove Village, IL) expands the HN-5X series of 5-axis simultaneous horizontal machining centers (HMCs) with its largest model to date. Capable of traveling 49.2 inches in the X axis, 48.4 inches in Y and 47.2 inches in Z, the HN80E-5X with Fanuc 30iM controller produces workpieces 49.2 inches in diameter, 39.4 inches high, and weighing 3,300 pounds – 1.65 tons.
Featuring a solid cast iron boxway base, the ultralarge-capacity HMC provides maximum rigidity, stability and accuracy. Guideways consist of a combination of hardened and ground hand-scraped turcite for stability and vibration damping as well as long life. The cross section is thick and wide for maximum machine rigidity. Bifurcated bell-shaped column further increases rigidity and cutting efficiency.
Both ends of the trunnion table are supported by the high-load-type roller BRG and a double-lead worm gear system for low-frequency machining. Optical scale feedback system on the X, Y, and Z axes and inductive scale feedback system on the A and B axes ensure consistent accuracy.
A high-torque, heavy-duty spindle complements the rigid machine frame. The spindle head stock consists of single-piece castings for more powerful milling and greater accuracy than bolt-together spindle heads.
For additional efficiency, the tool magazine is driven by a servo motor for fast and reliable indexing.
Ideal for producing parts for customers in the demanding aircraft, automobile, power generator, mold-and-die, and semiconductor industries.
Hexagon and Authentise Partner On End-To-End AM Software Solution
The first-of-its-kind solution will integrate shop floor data with data intelligence to orchestrate consistent quality from concept to part. Statistical process control combined with machine learning and artificial intelligence methods will mitigate waste and quality issues during design while improving AM repeatability.
